Subject: Knit-Baby Hat-Chat

Hi knitters-        

Since summer I've been knitting baby hats for our local hospital. They supply the yarn, CuddleSoft by Caron, and I supply the time.The following is the pattern they gave me to use.  It is similar to the
Baby Hat I found on the internet (from Anne Kebelik.) The difference is in the decrease.

EASY NEWBORN HAT
Yarn: sport yarn
Needles: size 6 US

Cast on 76 stitches.
Next row: Knit 2, Purl 2 to the end of the row.

Continue this pattern for 71/2 inches.

Next row: Knit 2 together,Purl 2 together across row.
Next row: Purl.
Next row: Knit 2 together across row.
Next row: Purl.
Next row: Knit 2 together across row. 

Thread needle and take remaining stitchess off knitting needles.Sew cap together,changing seam at cuff turn-up.  Pompom is optional.
